Dr David HickletonPartner / Dentist
I have over 15 years’ experience as a dental surgeon both with Denplan and NHS practices in the Newcastle area, where I have lived for over 20 years after marrying a local lass. We have twin 6-year-old boys.
I grew up in Devon where my father was a dentist and built a large dental practice of his own in Sidmouth. After leaving school I went to university at Cambridge to study Genetics and did a PhD in Newcastle before studying dentistry in Bristol.
Over the past 8 years, I have enjoyed training a number of dental surgeons as part of the Northern Deanery Foundation Dentist Training programme. I’m delighted that they have gone on to become successful general dental practitioners or specialists.
If I have any spare time, I love to mountain bike, snowboard in the Alps and surf in the warm waters of Tynemouth.
Mr Evan MacDougallPartner / Dentist
I have 20 years’ experience as a dental surgeon both as an associate and a dental practice owner. I have worked for a number of NHS and Denplan practices in the North-East.
I am very proud that there has been a MacDougall providing NHS Dentistry since its introduction in 1948 – starting with my grandfather, Dr Evan MacDougall, followed by my uncle Mr Peter MacDougall and now me. And yes, I was named after my grandfather.
I was born in Edinburgh but my childhood was spent in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I returned to Scotland during my teens and was schooled in Edinburgh prior to my dental training in Newcastle. I have lived here for over 25 years now, making me more of a Geordie than anything else. Although, after all my travels, I’ve been told by many that my resulting accent now sounds Irish (I don’t know why and apologies to any Irish clients).
In 2007, I relocated to Australia for a year, where I met a Whitley Bay lady and we decided to return home to Newcastle. I have rowed for Scotland under 16’s, represented England in the Swamp Soccer World Cup 2008 and played football for Corbridge United. I also enjoy sailing and running the occasional marathon around the best vineyards France has to offer.
Celine ReynoldsAssociate Dentist
I have been working in Newcastle since 2015, providing a mixture of both NHS and private treatment. I have already passed part one and am due to complete my Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (Royal College Surgeons England) exams in Autumn 2017.
Originally from a small village called Crossgar in County Down, Northern Ireland, I Qualified from Queens University Belfast with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. I particularly enjoy treating young children and anxious patients, as I like to think I put patients at ease and reassure them about any concerns or fears they may have. In my spare time, I enjoy going out with friends and travelling as much as possible.
Our hygienist, Karen is here to help you with effective cleaning of your teeth. She will check your cleaning and offer bespoke advice and recommend products to help you clean effectively.
Good cleaning is especially important if you have predisposition to gum disease, are diabetic, take certain medications, or have implants, so we always recommend that you see the hygienist if you are a new patient to our practice.
Decay and gum disease are preventable diseases, so Karen will thoroughly scale and polish your teeth and work with our dentists to help prevent these conditions.
