Amani Mohammed
Foundation Dentist (GDC no 309748)
When it comes to dentistry, my interest piqued when as a child, I remember being excited to go to family check ups and I was always asking my dentist “too many questions”! The most fulfilling (no pun intended) part of dentistry for me, is seeing the positive impact that it can have on patients. Whether this is building their confidence, helping people overcome any fears/anxiety or improving their smile, it makes all the hard work worth it.
I was born in Newcastle, then moved to Scotland where I went to high school, and I can safely say that my mixed Geordie/Scottish accent is a talking point. I studied at Queen’s University, Belfast which I dearly loved and made many great lifelong friends. I then decided it was time to do a full-circle and come back to Newcastle to complete my foundation year.
I enjoy going on holidays to new places to experience different cultures and foods but also enjoy being at home spending time with my family and friends.
Education
- BDS with distinction in dental conservation, Queen’s University, Belfast 2023
BEHIND THE SMILE
We asked Amani some questions to find out more about the woman behind the smile. Away from her professional life, what are the things she holds dear?
If you were able to invite three people to the dinner table, who would they be and why?
Michelle Obama- So she can give me some inspirational life advice
Stevie Wonder -To provide some evening entertainment
Mrs Hinch- so she can tidy up afterwards!
If you weren’t a dentist, what would you want to do as a career?
I’d like to own my own bakery.
If you were to share one piece of dental advice, what would it be?
Spit, don’t rinse! If you rinse your mouth after you brush your teeth, you wash out the active ingredients in your toothpaste.
What is your favourite charity?
