Invisalign

Looking for an effective, hassle-free teeth-straightening solution? With no wires and no fuss, Invisalign is becoming an opted alternative to the regular arch wire.

The main advantages of Invisalign are that aligners can be taken out, allowing you to eat without worrying about debonding a bracket. These trays that gradually align your teeth are also transparent, so no one will know you are having your teeth straightened.

Frequently asked questions

The best way to clean your aligners is by brushing and rinsing them in lukewarm water and using the Invisalign Cleaning Crystals or special cleaning tablets. It’s important that you brush your teeth after each meal before re-inserting your aligners to maintain good oral hygiene.

The vast majority of patients report no effect on speech. However, as with traditional orthodontic appliances, there is an initial adjustment period associated with having something new in the mouth.

No. Unlike traditional wires and brackets, with the Invisalign® System you can eat whatever you like while in treatment because you remove your aligners to eat and drink. This also makes it simple to brush and floss your teeth after each meal to maintain good oral hygiene, before re-inserting your aligners.

Smoking is discouraged while wearing aligners because it is possible for the aligners to become stained or discoloured.

You should wear your aligners all the time during treatment, except when eating, brushing or flossing teeth. Recommended wear 22 hours a day.

Chewing gum while wearing aligners is not advised as gum can stick to them. It is recommended that aligners be removed for all meals and snacks.

Case Study – Invisalign patient

One of our smiley patients booked a Free Smile Assessment at the practice. During this assessment, we ascertained that her primary concerns were the colour, shape and position of her front teeth.

We drafted up a 3-stage treatment plan involving: Invisalign to straighten her teeth, a whitening programme to brighten her smile and composite bonding to reshape her front teeth.

Firstly, 14 Invisalign tray aligners moved her front teeth to the precise position her ClinCheck video had predicted.

Happy with this result, her 2-week whitening programme began. This treatment enabled her to lighten her teeth to a colour she was happy with. In this case, it was three shades lighter.

Finally, our dentist used composite bonding to reshape her teeth. This procedure was completed in a single visit and our patient was delighted with the results.

Our happy patient has since recommended Ilfracombe Dental Practice to her friends.
