35 Years Dental Experience in the North-East
With 35 years’ professional experience in the North-East, we’ve forged close ties with local DAMAS-approved laboratories, suppliers and dental committees.
This local knowledge and experience ensures we can deliver quality dental products and a high level of dental care in line with local population demand, as well as supporting our local companies. At Ilfracombe Dental Practice we do our best to ensure that your dental care meets your individual needs and, as a patient, you have the right to express a preference of practitioner.
We are equipped with state-of-the-art technology to help diagnose the problem quickly and accurately so that treatment may be efficiently administered.
During your visit
- We use Digital Radiography, which greatly reduces a patient’s exposure to radiation and shortens film processing time. This allows us to optimise treatment time in the dental chair.
- We have digital cameras capable of photographing your teeth at the back of the mouth and showing you the picture on a large screen so that you can see (if you wish) your problem tooth that you otherwise you might not be able to see.
Before and after your visit
- We can send a text reminding you of the time and date of your appointment. Please keep us updated with your current mobile number for this service.
- We can send your treatment plans, costings and advice to your email address so that you do not have to worry about remembering everything you are told in surgery.
The practice is open late until 7pm on a Wednesday evening for private and Denplan patients. This is a recent facility that Mr MacDougall and Dr Hickleton added at the time of their purchase of the practice. We are not making this available to all patients as this service is costly to run.
We also offer daily emergency appointments for all patients. Our emergency appointments are available on request by calling the surgery from 8.30am.
Practice opening hours
Monday 8.30am – 5.30pm
Tuesday 8.30am – 5.30pm
Wednesday 8.30am – 5.30pm
Thursday 8.30am – 5.30pm
Friday 8.30am – 4.00pm
Access is available but limited as the building is a mid-terraced Victorian dwelling. Our ground floor rooms in the premises are accessible to wheelchairs.
There is a waiting room and treatment room (surgery) on the ground floor but, unfortunately, no lavatory on this level. The practice is accessed via a suitable wide concrete ramp and hand-rail with a low-level doorbell at the entrance that can be used if you require assistance in entering (this door is operated manually rather than electrically). There is surrounding street parking and we’re located close to a main bus interchange and Monkseaton Metro station. We can always arrange a taxi if you prefer.
“I'm always made to feel welcome and at ease. The dentists are friendly, with a good chair-side manner - an excellent experience all round.”
